Details
Governments are primarily responsible for implementing public policies to protect against forest fires. Everywhere, laws, programs and projects are created and implemented in public and private areas. However, when these policies reach indigenous, traditional and tribal communities, several cultural aspects can influence the results of these policies, generating synergies or conflicts.
Sophisticated and standardized fire management designs have been brought to these communities around the world in recent years. Often, their efficiency and support were hampered by a lack of understanding and integration with their target audience. The purpose of this session is to open space for representatives of indigenous communities, government agencies and organized civil society, with the aim of indicating the best way to avoid conflicts and create synergy in initiatives to protect against forest fires.
